Route 17 through town
Under the arches
Los portales are the covered arcades around a Mexican town plaza — the arches you eat under while the square goes by. That is where the name comes from. Ours is at 1425 Tappahannock Blvd, on the Route 17 strip that runs through Tappahannock, a straight shot from the Rappahannock bridge. There is a dining room, a bar, and a phone that takes takeout orders.
